iPhone 5 Release – Apple Sells Out of the iPhone 4S

Within 24 hours of opening pre-orders for the new iPhone 4S, Apple has pushed back the expected shipping times for the deliver of the iPhones an estimated one or two weeks. Apple began to take pre-orders online through the Apple website at approximately 12:01AM PST on Friday.
Some users did have trouble ordering though. Verizon and Sprint customers were able to preorder on time but many AT&T customers found that they were unable to purchase an iPhone 4S for a few hours. Apple has announced that there have been already over 200,000 pre-orders for the new iPhone, which is a record for Apple.
The iPhone 4S as unveiled on Tuesday with the same design as the iPhone 4. It does however have an upgraded camera, faster processing speed, and Siri voice control. Analysts do expect the iPhone 4S to quickly become the top selling iPhone Apple has ever sold.
Currently, Verizon is sold out of its initial batch of 16GB models. The estimated delivery date of the 16GB model is also now October 21st. Sprint is in the same situation and both will have iPhones available in stores on October 14th.
This has been a very different launch for Apple because this is the first iPhone that can be used with multiple carriers. Even worse, this is a global iPhone, in that it can operate on CDMA and GSM networks. Apple has always had problems with iPhone launches and this launch is already extremely messy.
